Why Washington Sales Tax Sucks

Washington sales tax is 8.92% which means it has the fifth highest sales tax of any state. I went to the store today to buy a SD Card which had the overpriced cost of $29.99. I pulled out $30.00 and payed for it. Problem was, I needed to pull out an extra $5 to pay for the $3 tax. This also means if you are buying something that is 25 cents, it actually costs almost 28 cents because of sales tax. This is why people go to Oregon to buy expensive things: to avoid the expensive sales tax. I am sure Washington does not actually need an almost 10% tax to keep it's schools and transportation working and if they privatized transportation they could decrease sales tax.

Yeah but Oregon isn't all it's cracked out to be with no sales tax. If you live here, in exchange for no sales tax, WE have one of the highest income tax rates in the US of state income tax brackets. Most people, even the poorest of the poor, wind up owing a little to Oregon every year. I'd rather move up to Washington and deal with the sales tax, travelling to OR for expensive things, than deal with income tax frankly.
